Pretty disappointed all round. The Alamo 'Save Time' facility didn't save any time as I was asked to input all the information I pre-registered into the automated machine again. Having selected a 'Jeep Grand Cherokee or similar' I was given a choice of cars, none of which was a Jeep Grand Cherokee or anywhere remotely similar in terms of quality. Ended up with a horrendously underpowered Chevy Equinox which struggled to go up even the gentlest of hills or overtake without the engine shrieking in displeasure. On leaving the compound, I presented my photo driving licence and credit card as instructed by the two Alamo reps i dealt with but was also asked for my passport. This was packed deep in a suitcase in the boot. So if you want a random car and have plenty of spare time at the start of your journey, this could be the one to go for

This was a very easy experience and worked perfectly. I did require some confirmation from Alamo about the automatic inclusion of an additional driver in Nevada so perhaps this might have been made clearer on the USCar Hire site - I think, though, that Alamo is a little ambiguous on this regulation. We chose Silver Basic on the recommendation of a USCar Hire representative and that was absolutely all we needed in Nevada and beyond. The rental pick up was seamless and everything was exactly as it should have been. I was pleased to have read other comments about being offered an upgrade at the Alamo desk - we declined and I would advise others to do the same. The Alamo person was annoyed that I had already purchased Emergency Roadside Assistance through USCar Hire. We were offered a full tank of gas - return empty - by Alamo and declined that too. It is very difficult to return a car empty. Be aware that the price of gas was significantly higher in Vegas than just about anywhere else we went - except the Grand Canyon! I still don't think that prepaying gas is a great idea. I thoroughly recommend USCar Hire and when returning to the States next year will certainly repeat the experience.

I loved using US Car Hire! Not only were the rates highly competitive but service provided met our expectations. We opted for the Enhanced Roadside Assistance and coincidentally, on our way to Orlando experienced a flat tire. Through a short phone call, we recd a car swap and returned safely to Miami. The only hiccup I had was at the last min, I was informed that because my credit card was used, my name had to also be recorded as the lead driver. So on the very last day, I had to add my husband as a second driver because I had no intentions of driving. The old invoice was cancelled and the new confirmation recd when I was at the airport in Miami. In future, I recommend some hard coding feature where lead driver name matches credit card info so you can be made aware upfront. Overall we were happy with the service and would definitely recommend and utilize again.

Initially sceptical, I found the system worked well with good communications and good advice about how to avoid being upsold insurance at the desk as this was already included. At Orlando the process was seamless with the rental car being across the road from the terminal (literally) and you could then browes the selection of cars (Alamo) and choose your steed. I found a great car - with 8 miles on the clock, which had that special new car smell...lovely.

On pick up a bit confusing as shown line of cars to select from but appeared to have cars above grade in line! however car choosen was clean and met our needs.

The pickup process was easy enough, I had registered for the quick pickup service but when I got to the office there were 3 assistants waiting at the desk so it seemed easier to use one of them. I had to rebuff the attempts to upgrade the car and take additional insurance but other than that the only delay was a printer jam. Choice of Stands SUVs was good and we chose one of the 3 Checrolet Equinox lined up outside. Nice car, great condition but it was either defective or seriously underpowered as it really struggled climbing the ascents on the way to Breckenridge. The drop off on the return was very quick, easy and courteous with a bus ready and waiting. All in all very please with US Car Hire and Alamo, aside from the slight problem with the car it would have been 5 stars
