Choice locations

Alamo and National car rental offer a service known as 'Choice Locations'. This is available in most of the larger locations, particularly the airport car hire depots.

When you make your car hire booking, you will select the car category that you would like to drive, for example, a Full Size 4 Door. On arrival at the collection location you will go to either the desk or to the kiosks if you want to avoid the wait.

Once your paperwork has been processed, you will then be instructed to go to the Alamo or National car rental parking lot (depending on which car hire supplier you chose when booking your car).

Go to the parking lot (which is clearly signed) and you will see the Alamo or National cars in rows, divided in to clearly marked categories. Go to the area signed for the car type you booked and you will see a selected of cars available in your category. Choose the car you like the look of (based on make, model, colour, features, and luggage space) and you will see the keys are in the driver's side door lock.

All you need to do is load up your luggage, get in the car you like then drive off.

Although we do not recommend upgrading your car on collection (due to high cost), if you see a car in another category than you have booked, you are free to get in and drive that one away (or speak to a staff member to confirm cost before you decide).

As you drive out of the car rental parking lot, you pass through a gate with a staff member that will check your rental documents. If you have chosen to upgrade your car, at this point you will be told how much the upgrade will cost you. This will be a daily rate and subject to tax. You will be asked to initial and sign next to the upgrade pricing, so please do take care to read this carefully. If you later decide you did not want to pay that much, then no refunds will be due since you will have signed to confirm you agreed.

The Alamo and National 'Choice Locations' product is a great feature and that alone (along with the use of kiosks) is reason enough to choose these suppliers.
