The largest single floor retail outlet mall in the USA is Sawgrass Mills, located on West Sunrise Blvd, Sunrise, Florida 33323-4020. If you plan on visiting Ft Lauderdale you really wouldn' t want to miss this great shopping opportunity. Be prepared to do a lot of walking as there are around 350 stores to explore.
I would plan to get to the Mall when it opens and to wear comfortable foot ware as this place is huge. A one day visit is really not long enough, but if you get a guide map and know which stores you would like to spend your money with, you can probably accomplish it in a day.
Opening hours: Monday - Saturday - 10am - 9. 30pm
Sunday the opening times are 11am till 8pm
Even though there are 14, 000 parking spaces, I would advise Valet parking. Alternatively try to get there around 10am, as by the afternoon a parking space may not be found so easily, and the mall will be much busier. Once you have parked your vehicle remember to make a mental/written note of the parking lot name, the number and the entrance where you entered into the Mall.
While walking through the mall you will probably see many folk wheeling suitcases, a great idea as you can pack as you shop, and if you have bought loads of bargains you can secure them in one place. I can recall at Ieast two occasions when I have been a little careless and have lost a few purchases, so I now wheel a suitcase when I go shopping at Sawgrass Mall. If you don' t want to wheel a suitcase they do have carts for rent, these are like big heavy mesh shopping bags on wheels, but once they get full, things can drop out.
There are many entrances into the inside of the Mall, in addition there are open air promenades where you will find many exclusive stores, and some very nice restaurants. The Colonnade Outlet is a shoppers paradise, you can find some great bargains inside stores such as Burberry, Coach, Bloomingdales, Hugo Boss, Prada, and many more! The Grand Lux Cafe is a nice place for lunch when you are shopped out at the Colonnade stores.
If you need to recharge and rest your feet there are two food courtyards serving fast food inside the covered Mall. The Rainforest Cafe can be found next to the VHF Outlet. If you just need a caffeine fix Starbucks is in the same area as the Rainforest Cafe. If you and your friends split up on your shopping expedition you could plan to meet up at the end of your day for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, which is just outside The Oasis entrance near the Red Snapper Parking lot. If you are near The Burlington Coat Factory the outside entrance nearest there leads to shopping stores such as Ralph Lauren, Tommy, Samsonite etc, and The Cheesecake Factory.
