PARADISO 37
The Downtown Disney area has undergone a number of changes over the years as it has tried to cater to different markets. The many clubs that were only open in the evening have now closed. In their place the whole area is in the process of becoming a home to many different styles of restaurant. One of the most recent additions is the Paradiso 37 which has a very nice waterfront dining spot. This is further enhanced by the fact that they have built a deck on two sides of the restaurant that is also partly built over the lake.
This restaurant and bar serves up unique cuisine that is inspired by their view of the ‘Taste of the Americas’. What this really means is the menu features items from North, South and Central America on both the lunch and dinner offerings. Paradiso 37 also features an international wine bar and tequila tower bar. This bar has 37 different kinds of tequila on offer, yes that’s where the 37 came from, and a selection of signature frozen margaritas which I can personally vouch for.
They open at 11:00 a. m. when you can just sit, relax and enjoy a cup of specialty coffee; lunch can be quite or busy depending on the day and date. However return in the evening and you are sure to find it busy, often with entertainment, as well as the food. The restaurant closes late at night depending on how busy it is but getting a reservation on 407-934-3700 is recommended if this is a special night out. As it is only a short walk from the Cirque du Soleil it can be a good place to eat after the show.
Paradiso 37 has now been open for over two years and we have eaten there 9 times so I now feel able to give a reasonable review the restaurant, the atmosphere and the food all of which are needed to get a complete dining experience.
The Paradiso 37 entrance is more than just a way in. You should pause here and have a look around if this is your first time. You should also look up not just around where you will see martini glass and tequila bottle chandelier hanging over the foyer. As you look across to the bar area your eye will be caught by the floor to ceiling tequila bottle tower behind the bar. While this may look impressive during the day it comes alive at night with the light display.
The photos that are attached to this article will give you some idea of what to expect.
The restaurant is divided into two levels with a small lift or stairs inside the restaurant to access the upper level. The two sided outdoor deck area can get very hot. If you want to be seated here check the position of the sun and the available umbrellas to see if you will be able to complete your meal without being cooked yourself.
No review is complete without a detailed look at both the food and drinks on offer and this is the subject of the second part of this article.
