Disneys Boardwalk - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Disney General
Disney Boardwalk has been created to look like the boardwalks that were popular at the turn of the 20th century in such coastal cities as Coney Island in New York and Atlantic City. It is a quarter of a mile long situated around Crescent Lake and has shops, restaurants, nightclubs and several Disney resort hotels including the Boardwalk Hotel, the Beach Club and the Yacht Club.
During the day you can stroll round the Boardwalk and grab a bite to eat at one of the many vendors selling hot dogs or pizza or have a delicious cake from the Boardwalk bakery. If you do not want to walk you can hire a four wheeled bicycle which can seat from four people to larger ones which seat up to eight.
At night is really when the fun starts with street performers and lots of live entertainment from magicians to amazing jugglers. There are a variety of restaurants and eateries to choose from both on the Boardwalk and in the hotels. The Big River Grille and Brewing Works serves sandwiches, salads and main meals and is the only brewpub at Walt Disney World Resort. Kouzzina (which is Greek for Kitchen) is a family restaurant specializing in Mediterranean type meals. The Flying Fish Café as the name suggests serves fresh fish and seafood, a little dearer in price than the others but well worth it. Then there is the popular ESPN Club which is an American style sports bar with nonstop-sports action, specializing in beer, burgers, wings, and sandwiches.
There are several restaurants in the Beach Club Resort which you can enjoy. The Yachtsman Steakhouse which has an open kitchen serving steaks, chicken, lamb and seafood dishes. Cape May Café an all you can eat seafood buffet. Captains Grille with an American menu of sizzling steaks, chicken and seafood. However if you want something a little bit naughty go to Beaches and Cream Soda Shop where you will not only be able to get a sandwich or burger but also delicious ice creams and their speciality called the Kitchen Sink, which is literally a kitchen sink, with taps, filled with many varieties of ice creams and topping. Recommended you go with a good appetite and at least another five friends to help you eat it.
Its an easy walk into Epcot from the Boardwalk. If you go past the ESPN Sports Bar and over the bridge which crosses the inlet where the boats dock at Epcot, the road will take you into the back of Epcot in between England and Paris. You can also get one of the passenger boats into Hollywood Studios or if you are feeling really energetic you can walk down the side of the waterway.
