Blizzard Beach - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Disney General
Having not been to Blizzard Beach in over 10 years I was looking forward to taking my family there for our stay in 2014. Due to needing to go on a weekend we thought it best to try a Disney Water Park, in between the hustle and bustle of Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. As part of our Disney Park tickets the cost of our visit was$30, instead of $60 on the door.
Having heard the park can get busy at weekends we decided to turn up just as the doors were opening to ensure that we got the seats and sun loungers we wanted. With young Children it can be hard to get somewhere near the water with a parasol. The other beauty of arriving early is avoiding some of the afternoon queues for some of the more popular rides.
Blizzard Beach is designed around a European Ski resort and there are lots to make you feel you are there. There is even a ski lift here taking you to the summit of Mount Gushmore where Summit Plummit, Slush Gusher and Teamboat Springs (green sector) are located. To make it easier for you to know where you are, each location is colour coded.
The park is not all that big, but is packed with some very good water rides. Summit Plummit is the most popular and queues of 1hour are not unheard of on this ride. To ride this you need to be 48 inches. Teamboat Springs on the other hand is very family friendly, it has a large ring for 6 people and much lower height restrictions. For us this was one of the most fun rides.
Some of the other rides include, Tobbogan Races, Snow Stormers, Double Dipper, Runoff Rapids, Ski Patrol training camp and children’s play area. What is good about the rides at Blizzard Beach is that they can cater for both adults and children, unlike some other water parks that cater more for the adults and teeneagers.
If you are looking to find ways to use your extra Disney Tickets, you can’t go far wrong with Blizzard Beach. It is an ideal place for the family to enjoy themselves and also relax to recharge after the bust parks of Magic Kingdom or Universal Studios. To enhance your experience make sure that you arrive early and go straight to Summit Plummit and Slush Gusher. Go first thing and the queue is 10 min, go after lunch and the queues become 1 hour. Another top tip is to take some sandwiches before you go, we tried the Disney food, but even though we likes it, what we didn’t like was the food. All in all a very good day out, one that should be on your list. If you have children this is an ideal location.
