Day 4
Another lovely sunny and warm day!
We had breakfast on the pool deck watching the amazing sunrise over the lake (we were up early, still in the British time zone) and told the girls we were going to see the animals at Disney Animal Kingdom. This is a lovely park, but so the animals can rest it closes at dusk. This meant it wouldn’t be too much of a late night for the girls.
It took less than 10 minutes to drive to Animal Kingdom, and we got parked quite close to the entrance so we didn’t need to take the transport. After entering the park and getting a park guide, essential for knowing the times of the shows, we entered through the tropical oasis into the main park. . As the cross over the lagoon you see the amazing tree of life. This is a gigantic tree, with its trunk covered with intricate carvings of all types of animals, hundreds of them! Underneath the tree is a 3D show called “its tough to be a bug”, which we will visit later, but for now we head over to “Africa” to have a ride on the “Kilimanjaro safari”. This is amazing set in over 100 acres of savannah, taking you on a safari bus through the freely roaming animals. We love this ride!
After departing the safari bus we walk along the Pangani forest trails, and watch the gorillas,
Next we move along to the jungle trek with giant bats, real dragons and the tigers are remarkable, and you can see them very close up through the large glass viewing area.
Its hot sunny day and we are dressed correctly (quick drying clothes) so we take a ride on the Kali river rapids, which is a white water rush ride over the rapids…. this is such fun, probably you will get wet, and someone usually gets a real soaking…. and its usually me! But to be honest it’s quite welcome on a hot day!
WE then grab some lunch and head over to camp Minnie Mickey to watch the amazing live “Festival of the lion king “show. This is a fabulous show, set in a circus ring type arena, and everyone is encouraged to sing and take part in the show. The acrobats on monkey suits are very amusing, and the music is spine tingling…. . do not miss this show, its just awesome!
Moving on we now head to the new “Everest” ride, a high speed train through the misty mountain!
We continue around the park taking in a few more rides and browsing the gift shops before heading home.
At the exit there is a Rainforest café, a lovely themed restaurant, so we have something to eat there before heading happily back to our villa, the children have had a great day, and are asleep within minutes of getting into bed!
Another great day!
