Longboat Key - Gulf Coast - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Other Florida
Ever been to paradise? Well we believe that we found it when we last visited the Gulf of Mexico.
Longboat Key, Florida is a small stretch of island surrounded by the beautiful Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Bay of Sarasota on the other.
Longboat Key is home to an abundance of wild life from Beach roaming Pelicans to Sea animals such as Manatee and Dolphins.
Because of the shape of Longboat Key, a large proportion of the accommodations have beachfront access, just one of the many advantages while holidaying down here.
Connecting Longboat Key to the mainland you have to pass through a small centre called St Armands Circle, a small but unique shopping and Dining area. Many small shops full of gifts give St Armands Circle a character like no other. Side streets full of delicious restaurants add to the beauty as you stroll around in the fantastic Florida sunshine. If you ever travel down to this part of the Gulf Coast you must take time out to visit St Armands Circle, a place of fine shops and gourmet restaurants.
Longboat Key boasts some of the best beaches America has to offer. Beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see. White sandy beaches over looking the fabulous coloured sea. Wildlife, the fresh warm sea breeze all adds to the pleasure of being on the Gulf Coast.
On the next Key down from Longboat Key you will find Siesta Key home to one of the world best beaches. Siesta Key Beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. In 1987, Siesta Beach was judged "the World's Finest and Whitest" beach. The Siesta Key Beach sand is soft, floury and cool to the touch. With its wide-open spaces there is always plenty of room to relax, whether sun bathing, or taking a dip in the cool sea, your memories of Siesta Key Beach will last a lifetime.
There are many excellent restaurants around with some of the freshest seafood you can taste. We can highly recommend Hemmingway’s, a fabulous family restaurant just off St Armands Circle. The Dry Dock Waterfront & Grill, as it sounds serves some of the best Fillet Mignon we have ever tasted. Seated outside next to the sea you can enjoy the evening sunshine while tucking into some amazing food. These are just 2 of many restaurants dotted up and down the Key, all serving fabulous cuisine in this paradise on the Gulf Coast.
