Farmers Market at Mt Dora. - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Shopping
Do you like Mt Dora? we do not like it. . . . we LOVE it!
If you have never been to this charming historic town, do not let the name worry you; no mountains in sight, just a gentle hill!
This quaint little town has a gorgeous lake and lots of individual little shops and cafes. No Maccy Ds here!
The town was named after the lake it overlooks and a good time to visit is on a sunday when they have a Farmers Market. This is held at the historic Lakeside Inn on the tennis courts.
There are fresh fruit and vegetables here alongside some hand made crafts. It must be the Farmers Market with the most stunning view in America because, as the name of the hostelry suggests it has the awesome vista. . I could gaze at that lake for hours.
The inn serves coffee and pastries or you could save your calories for their lunch.

I am sure you will be content to wander round the town to complete your day but if you are still raring to go, I have a couple of other suggestions that are within a short driving distance.
First is Rennigers Antique and Farmers Market which is open every weekend from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. This is held on 117 acres of rolling country side.
On the 2nd sunday of the month, there is also a guitar and car show so bear that in mind when you are planning. .
The other nearby place I would like to recommend is DE Leon Springs. This is a stunning State Park that costs only a few dollars to get in and has a sugar mill set in some gorgeous springs with a swimming area. There are trails and a boat ride (extra charge) and you can make your own pancakes in the sugar mill.
The pancakes only cost around $6 fpr unlimited batter and maple syrup; you pay a little extra for toppings such as bacon, banana and ham but a real experience that will not cost you that much.
The boat ride is well worth the extra dollars and takes a gentle journey down the lovely river; location of one of the earliest holiday resorts.
The trip is fully guided so you do not miss a thing.
