Disney’s Blizzard Beach - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Disney General
I have to admit to being rather nervous around water and for this reason it was quite a few years before I decided to venture to a water park with my family. I had absolutely no need to be afraid of anything. My visit to Disney’s Blizzard beach was truly special and I took away very treasured memories.
So, what is so special about a water park as opposed to having fun at a real beach? Disney magic of course. Disney has very cleverly landscaped the park do you have the impression that somehow you are enjoying snowy, cold activities under the heat of the Florida sun!
The park is divided into different areas so that there is plenty for all ages and confidences to enjoy. Activities range from white knuckle rides to simply bobbing about in a shallow pool!
Firstly, you and your family need to organise yourselves on entry to the park, with towels, some seats, and a place to change. Everywhere is wonderfully signposted and we had no problem hiring towels, finding a locker and basing ourselves in a quiet shady spot, with a few sun loungers,
Changing facilities are excellent. There are plenty of lockers, hot showers and mirrors. We arrived in the park with our swimwear under our clothes. Don’t forget a change of dry underwear for later! ! Everyone walks around in swimsuits, but if you feel happier, you can stay as dressed as you like! It doesn’t matter how wet you get as you dry off in seconds, even in cloudy weather.
Ensure you are protected from the sun with a high factor waterproof sunscreen, and try wearing flip flops or beach shoes as the floor can get very hot.
Food and drink options are very casual and consist of snacks, salads and sandwiches. Eateries had very creative names such as Avalunch! You can buy mugs which are re-fill able and are great value!
We found all the rides and slides superb. In particular we enjoyed the family rafting and the tobogganing which allows you to have fun together. The slush gusher and summit plummet are not for the faint hearted. They are very tall slides that appear as if you are falling off the edge of a snow capped mountain! Just looking up at them made me wobble! However, with the lazy river, the tykes play area and the wonderful pool area there was plenty for the more nervous guests!
In the summer, try arriving a little later in the day as the park will be quieter but you will still have plenty of time for everything. So, go on, don’t be a scardy cat like me, and enjoy a wet and wild time! !
