Typhoon Lagoon Refurbished Part 1 - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Water Parks
Over recent years we had always gone to Blizzard Beach as our favourite Water Park but when we visited in March it was closed for refurbishment so we decided to go to Typhoon Lagoon.
We had a late flight back on a Saturday night and as my parents were staying on at our villa for another week we had the luxury of checking our bags in at the Virgin desk at Downtown Disney spending our last day at Typhoon Lagoon before going back to the villa to shower and change then heading to the airport for our 8. 00pm check in.
Typhoon Lagoon has a shrimp boat the Miss Tilly as its landmark and it is supposed to have landed there during a freak storm!
We have Hopper tickets that never expire until they are fully used for the Disney Parks so our admission to the Water Parks is part of that ticket. These days there are numerous kinds of tickets that can be bought many just having a 14 day limit but if you need a single day ticket I believe they cost about $30 at the entrance. A few years ago when we were lucky enough to take the girls to the villa twice in one year we bought Annual passes. I worked out that you needed to go 3 plus times in one year to make theses an option. Car Parking at Disney’s Water Parks is free.
These days you can also rent “Beachcomber Shacks” either on line before you visit or on the day if they have any available. I am not sure how much these are but when they were first introduced I believe they were about $200 per day. The Shacks have a roof with chairs and chaises, also included are towels a private locker a cooler with ice and bottled water. A Waiter service is also provided but you have to pay for all your orders. We saw these at a private area called Getaway Glens and there also appeared to be another area here where you could rent 2 chairs and an umbrella.
As you enter the Park you will see a stand selling Mugs that you can pay about $11 for and you can refill as often as you like at various refill stations throughout the Park all day at no extra charge. We always keep a couple of these at the villa and if you take them back to the Park you get a label for $7 and again you can have free refills all day.
You proceed into Park and you will see the Park Map and also the Surf Report Board both of which you will find very useful.
