The Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster is situated at Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios. The ride is located near the entrance of the park and is one of the first things you can see when you arrive. What strikes you when you are waiting to enter the park is the sheer size of some of the loops, they are pretty big!
The ride theme is set around the laboratory of Dr Bruce Banner where he is experimenting with his Gamma ray. As you can imagine being Universal Studios the build up to the ride is just as good as the main ride itself. Waiting in queue you can watch TV’s with old clips of the Hulk, getting you into the mood.
When you are near to the front of the queue you can choose to ride either the main cars or the front. If it is a busy day at the park it can be much quicker to join the main queue, however if the park is quiet it is best to wait for the front. Once you are near the front of the queue it seems to go much faster and before you know it you are on the ride itself.
Once on the ride and strapped in the train moves of slowly, but soon becomes caught up in Dr Banners Gamma ray. At this point you are transformed into the Hulk and then the ride gets interesting! 0-40mph is dispatched in 2 seconds flat and as you shoot out of the tunnel experience ‘zero’ G. After this it is just hold on and enjoy the 2 minutes 15 second ride. Seven inversions later and a few large drops taken at 67mph you are bought back to earth feeling rather jaded!
Overall the Incredible Hulk ride at Universal Islands of Adventure rates as one of my favourite rides in Florida. It encompasses many twists and turns with fast drops and smooth banked turns. What makes the ride even better is the fact you don’t feel like you are being thrown around like many other rides. It is certainly a must when visiting Universal.
