Seasons 52 - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Dining
If you are looking for somewhere a bit different to eat when visiting Orlando then try Seasons 52. Located on Sand Lake Road at Plaza Venezia this quality restaurat offers an exceptional menu of freshly prepared foods cooked in a healthy way.
The atmosphere is quietly sophisticated but not pretentious. There is no dress code although many of the customers were in smart casualwear they will not turn you away in shorts or jeans. The lighting is quite low so perfect for a romantic meal but just as suitable for a family.
The menu is all freshly prepared produce. Locally produced seasonal vegetables, beautifully prepared fish and meat dishes and tasty flatbreads and salads. We started with a tomato and basil flatbread, a parmesan and rosemary crispbread and grilled chicken skewers with sweetcorn relish and guacamole. All were delicious.
Examples of the entrees we chose are Alaskan Salmon, Rack of NZ Lamb and Cabernet Chicken. All are cooked without frying using herbs and spices to bring out the flavour of the food and are served with fresh vegetables. All the dishes are designed to be less than 475 calories although you certainly won’ t feel deprived eating them.
A selection of mini-desserts are offered to finish your meal. They are all based on classic desserts such as Key Lime Pie, Pecan Pie, Rocky Road and Carrot Cake. These are served in shot glasses so you get just a tast of something sweet without overdoing it.
They have a full bar and an extensive wine menu featuring wines from the US but also Europe and worldwide. We shared a very nice Spanish sparking wine and the waiter was knowledgeable and happy to help with selection.
The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. He always seemed to pop up when we needed something but never seemed to be hanging around our table when we didn’ t. All the staff we encountered were both friendly and efficient and they made us feel really welcome.
When you walk in the resturant feels quite posh and it certainly ticks all the boxes of an upscale restaurant but don’ t let that put you off or intimidate you. There was a wide range of customers from tourists dressed casually, like ourselves, to business people in suits - all were made welcome and put at ease.
The bill for four of us was $140 including tax but plus tip. We felt this was great value considering the quality of the food. It is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of many Orlando restaurants and well worth the short drive up from US27 or 192 villa areas. If it is a warm evening there is an oustide seating area overlooking the lake which had great views after dark.
I can’ t recommend this restaurant highly enough. I wish we’ d discovered it earlier in our holiday as we would definitely have been back. It is on our ’ must visit’ list for next time.
