Naples Beach and Golf Resort - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Golf
We were scheduled for a four day stay in Naples and one of those days had been designated to play golf.
We chose to play at Naples beach and golf resort, a golf course attached to one of the many hotels in Naples and is easy to find situated just off the main highway 41.This highway is the pulse of Naples and the 4th hole runs parallel to the 41 and can easily be seen from the highway.
We had pre-booked by phone and were given a warm welcome by the shop manager, who proved to be very helpful and had a well stocked shop which was also reasonably priced.
The changing rooms were of course air conditioned of medium size but were very clean and offered locker facilities, showers and indeed everything you needed to start your golf day.
All of the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The golf cart was included in the price of $60 each.
A very large putting and chipping area invited you to practice before your round to get you in the mood and so to give you a feel of what was in store for you.
The opening hole is a fairly relaxing par four with generous fairways. The rough is not punishing and the greens although firm are receptive.
The opening hole sets the standard for the whole course with generous fairways, light rough, well placed bunkers and the more or less obligatory water hazard; this is typical American holiday golf.
There are no long carries from the tee, the course is well manicured. The 7th hole is a delightful par 3, over water to the right hand side of the green but once again a large greenside bunker at the right hand side of the green will collect any slightly misdirected balls.
The 9th hole returns you to the complex where refreshments may be taken to prepare you for the back 9 holes.
The back 9 enable you to enjoy your golf whilst giving you a chance to view a selection of real estate, a different style and construction that are very pleasing to the eye, nut not pleasing to the pocket.
You finally reach the 18th, a lovely hole of 400yards plus with water on the right which meets from the left at a point just before the small green.
This is a very good hole to finish with; a par or less on this hole is an excellent score to end the day with.
We retired to the well appointed clubhouse and enjoyed a couple of drinks and were once again made to feel very welcome. They also offered a very good lunch menu.
My overall impression of this resort course was very good, a par 72 that gave everyone with whatever their handicap a chance to play well, and even more importantly to enjoy their golf, staff are welcoming, the complex is of a good standard and is defiantly worth a visit and enjoy a good relaxing day of golf.
