Manny's Chop House - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Dining
After all we had heard about Manny’s Chophouse we felt that we could put off a visit no longer. So in January we finally decided to try Manny’s on a Wednesday night (half price fajitas night). We headed south from High Grove on highway 27 for around 20 minutes and found the Manny’s set back from the road on the right hand side just past the large 24hr Wal Mart.
The car park was full so we headed for the overflow car park around the back and struggled to find a spot amongst the huge 4x4’s and open back trucks that obviously belonged to locals. We always think it’s a good sign when the locals frequent a restaurant; odds are the food will be good or they just wouldn’t bother coming back.
Once we had parked we made our way to the entrance through the throngs of people waiting outside and gave our names to the woman at the desk who said we would have a wait of around an hour. We didn’t think this was too bad so ordered drinks at the bar and found a spot to stand and wait. It soon became obvious that there were people coming in whose names were already on the list and our hour long wait became increasingly unlikely. Several drinks and around two hours later we were eventually called and by now we were starving.
We ordered the bottomless salad bowl to start and as it was half price fajitas night we felt we should give the beef fajitas a try. The salad arrived and although the “bottomless” tag was supposed to mean you could have refills if required we decided it meant that we would never get to the bottom as there was so much of it. It was served with warm, soft white rolls and cinnamon butter which were lovely. Then the fajitas arrived sizzling and spitting with the beef and onions piled high and a side plate with lettuce, cheese, salsa, sour cream and guacamole and a pile of tortillas. We were very hungry but after the salad and rolls we could only eat around half of the food before we were completely stuffed. I had been looking at the dessert menu before we ordered but there was no way we could even share one without bursting.
The food was excellent, everything I had been told it would be and extremely good value for money even if it had been full price. We were given boxes to take home what we couldn’t eat and must admit that we did use them although we don’t normally bother. I can tell you that the fajitas reheat very well in the microwave and we had enough for lunch by the pool the next day.
The atmosphere was good with lots of locals and a good sprinkling of UK tourists but the wait to be seated was very long. If you do decide to make a trip to Manny’s here are a couple of tips
1. Call ahead to put your name on the list, this will save you some waiting time.
2. Don’t bother with the half price night unless you are on a really tight budget, it gets very crowded and the food is excellent value even at full price.
3. Don’t tell anyone else or we will never get a table when we want to go.
4. Enjoy! !
