Kissimmee Ghost Tours - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Other Activities
Our girls have been talking to friends who holidayed in Kissimmee recently and they now inform us we MUST go on the Kissimmee Ghost Tour next time we visit our villa.
Apparently their friends loved it and said it was really scary. Apparently the Tour office is located at the Kissimmee Main Street Welcome Station in Downtown Historic Kissimmee. It is an old filling station on the corner of Neptune Road and Broadway and you can park your car at the back of the station. You may book in advance and charges are $19 adult, $9child 8-12; free for children under 7. The tour should last one and a half hours but their friends said they were on it for well over two hours. You need to take your camera and spare batteries to take some of the spooky photos! It is recommended that you take two or three pictures very quickly at each place.
When you arrive you meet up with your guide and have the opportunity to buy a drink if you wish. You then embark on a leisurely stroll around the small streets and alleys learning about Kissimmee’s history and hearing stories of “the unexplained and strange”. As you stroll around at each stop your guide recounts ghostly tales.
Apparently you start at the train station and learn all about the Civil War reaching here then as you walk around the small streets the girl’s friends told them they must stop in front of the library but would not tell them why.
They visited a lake which they said was scary and some people claim to have seen a ghost ship here. They heard the story of the ' Ghost of the Lake' and how he still haunts the lake looking for the dock. It is a good place to take a picture and have a close look at it afterwards!
On your journey you will hear about a headless horseman who still makes his late night rides through the area. There is also the tale of a young girl, she died very young, who plays in a playground and loves to makes the swing swing. Apparently at the “Hanging Tree' you are told about some of the people who met their death there and you may still feel their presence! This is another good place to take a photo.
The friends found Susan Courtside Café really spooky but would not say why.
As well as a visit to the Courthouse you hear tales of the ' crackers' who drove the cattle through the area and the violence and chaos they caused.
It all sounds quite an experience and far different from “Disney”. Needless to say it is top of the girls Must Do list for their next holiday.
