Resort Outdoor Weddings
Despite the fact that the Southern Nevada desert is a long way from any tropical islands this type of themed wedding is one of the most popular in Las Vegas. They usually take place at hotel resorts that have invested in lush, landscaped areas in contrast to the surrounding desert. They are then artistically decorated to resemble an exotic island.
The Flamingo, is just such a place, when it hosts weddings in its garden gazebo chapel. It offers a Polynesian style ceremony with flaming torches, a sparkling waterfall, pink flamingos, palm trees, and fresh flowers. The couples can choose from choose from a number of different packages all of which add to the tropical theme and cost. The Crescendo is one of the better packages and it provides a wedding coordinator, leather bound photo album, a pianist or violinist, champagne and toasting glasses. This is then completed with a two-night stay in the hotel’s Royal Suite.
Without going into all the details here are a few of the other options. Caesars Palace’s Garden of the Gods has an impressive back drop with its flowing terraces, waterfalls, and fountains. At the Treasure Island resort you can marry on the deck of a pirate galleon in the middle of Buccaneer Bay, when it’s not being used for the daily shows. The ceremony is performed by the ship’s “captain” while guests watch from an overlooking patio. You can even hire a pirate to swing down from the rigging to deliver the rings to the happy couple.
However if I had to choose the best setting for an outdoor wedding it would be at the Marriott Hotel in Summerlin. Now Summerlin is not strictly in Las Vegas as it is the Western district of the city but this is what gives it the appeal. The wedding arbour is set amongst a dense stand of trees and the views behind it of of the Red Rock Canyon are worth every penny.
Wedding and Honeymoon Packages
One of the reasons so many people choose Las Vegas for their wedding is that they have a complete destination for everything they want; service, celebration and honeymoon. All the major hotels in the city offer complete packages. Obviously the more you get the hotel to do the higher the cost but if you don’t have the time yourself then these services are tailor made for you.
These services will include all the basics except the licence which you must get personally but can include drinks, breakfast in bed, a reception in the banquet hall, tickets to production shows, spa treatments and dinner at one of the hotel restaurants. They will of course include a stay in a honeymoon or master suite.
The cost of these packages will vary from week to week. If you pick dates during the huge annual CES convention then expect the cost to be at least three times higher than the weeks on either side of this event. As far as rooms are concerned the general rule is that the farther you are from the main strip, the cheaper the room. However as with many things in Las Vegas it’s good to check the hotels web sites because of special deals that appear. The other general rules is that Las Vegas is always cheaper from Monday to Thursday.
