What makes Seaworld so good? - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Sea World
Seaworld is one of Orlando’s most under popular parks with families, however is not normally on the must do parks. The park boasts excellent visitor records and is actually one of Orlando’s best visited parks by people on vacation. Over the Years Seaworld has morphed into a great park by constantly adding new rides and attractions to keep people wanting to come back. Rather than sit back on their laurels they have kept people wanting to come back Year on year.
As you would expect the park is aimed at giving information about many creatures that rome the seas. There are many aquariums and pools where different fish, sharks, rays and penguins live, allowing you to get up close and personal with each at the same time learning about them.
One of the main attractions in Seaworld is the SHAMU show. This is located in the main arena and can seat well in excess of 10, 000 people. Prepare to get wet if you are unfortunate to get the only seats left at the front! Don’t worry though you can buy rain macks should you not wish to get wet. The show lasts around 20 minutes (used to last longer before the tragedy of the trainer) and allows people to see the Killer whales at the park do tricks, spins and stunts. The show culminates in SHAMU and his friend getting the front 13 rows drenched.
If like me you are an adrenaline junkie the park won’t disappoint. The two main rides are MANTA and KRACKEN. Both are some of the best coasters Orlando has to offer and would certainly rate in anyone’s top 10 favourites. MANTA is Orlando’s only lay-flat coaster and has people horizontal throughout. If you have never experienced this type of ride before you really do need to try it. Just make sure any loose change is put well away from your pockets as it all tends to come out when you go up the first incline! KACKEN on the other hand is a more typical coaster that takes you through many high speed loops and banked turns. The ride itself gets up to around 65mph and really is fast in the first few loops. Don’t worry if you do not like a bumpy ride, this is Orlando’s smoothest rides and is really good for people wanting to get confidence before trying say the HULK or DRAGONS CHALLENGE at UNIVERSAL. One of the best bits of rollercoaters at Seaworld is the fact you never have to queue very long. I think the most I had to queue was for 20 minutes to get onto MANTA and that was in peak season. Often KRACKEN does not have a queue at all! ! !
For the younger members of the family there are plenty of other shows on offer, these include the Dolphins, sealions etc. There are plenty of stations located around the park giving educational advice and facts on the animals in the park. This is something my younger child really liked and allowed him to get facts about the animals he had seen.
Overall Seaworld is a real gem of a park. Offering something for everyone it is a must visit when you are planning a trip to the parks. Couple it with a 2 park option along with BUSCH GARDENS it really is good value for money. Go out of season and get even better value for money with one of the 2 for 1 offers. I would rate the park as one of my favourite and certainly worth a visit.
