If you enjoy tubing then you should put K. P. Hole on your to do list. K. P. Hole is situated near Dunellan Florida (about 2 hours from the Disney area.
K. P. Hole is a public park in Marion County and is situated on the lovely Rainbow River. Rainbow River runs from Rainbow Springs (which is about a mile away) to Dunellan (which is about 6 miles away)
Tubing down the river usually takes about 4 hours but may take 5 so take this into account before you set off since you will need to be transported back at the end of your float.
Your first stop when you have parked your car is to visit the pay point to purchase your entry wristband; they request that just one of the party does this. If you take your own tube (which is unlikely) entry will cost you $3; however, the cost for entry, tube and transport back is only $9.
There are loos, lockers and changing rooms here as well as a picnic area so you may decide to have a snack and a drink before you leave. Once that is done, you are ready to launch yourself into the river and start your float. The river waters are crystal clear so you can peer down and spot the fish and just totally relax.
Once at the other end, your shuttle should not take too long to arrive to take you back to the starting point. If you have some time left over you could visit the nearby Rainbow Springs State Park. This is a very pretty park with impressive waterfalls and a spring fed swimming area. The entrance fee for this park is only a few dollars for a car full of people.
Tubing is available from april the 1st to the end of september and you must arrive before noon up to the 8th of may and one forty five pm from may 9th to september 30th. If you can avoid weekends, then do since it gets very busy and the car park often becomes full.
If you do find the car park is full then there are several concessions nearby that can come to your aid. Look on the website to establish where they are
The park itself is open from 8. a. m. til 8. a. m. in the summer and 8. a. m to 5. p. m. in the winter. It is best to phone ahead before travelling such a long way just in case there is a problem that will mean you cannot float.
