Disney World through the eyes of a two year old boy - part 2 - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Planning your Trip
Climbing up the Swiss Family Robinson’s tree house was great fun, all small boys like to climb and he is no exception. We had trouble getting him of this to go and do other things.
The highlight of the day was, and suspect is for most children, the parade. Sitting on his father’s shoulders and being right at the front he shouted with glee as he recognised each character – “It’s Mickey and Minnie, ooh Donald Ducky, Goofy” and so on. Many of the characters stopped to wave to him and shake his hand, he even got a hug from Tweedle Dee.
And so to Epcot, there is not so much for the little ones apart from Journey into Imagination with Figment – which he loved – and Finding Nemo. We spent hours in this ride looking at all the real fish in the tanks and watching some of them being fed.
We were not sure how he would take to Michael Jackson’s Captain EO so we sat near the exit just in case. He was captivated and even shouted out, “Oh no”, when the space ship crashed to earth. He took great delight in telling us that Hooter the elephant sneezed on him and got him all wet. I’m quite puzzled how he enjoyed it so much as he refused to wear the 3D glasses. My daughter, who has seen modern 3D movies said that Captain EO is a better 3D movie than any modern ones she has seen.
The Energy Adventure was a big hit as he loves dinosaurs. He was quite frightened by the loud roar or the dinosaurs before he saw them but wasn’t a bit afraid when he did see them. Again, he got sneezed on. This time by a dinosaur. At the end he said he would tell all his friends at nursery that he had seen real live dinosaurs.
On our trip to Downtown Disney the next day, we took him to eat at the T Rex restaurant. As you enter there is an enormous model of a T Rex and two babies. These move slightly all the time but every so often they give a loud roar. In the restaurant itself there are several different sections. We were in the ice age section, a bit cold but very white! All the walls were simulating the ice age icebergs. Now and again the lights all dim and thunder and lightning strikes and the dinosaurs roar. It is really well done.
So if you have a two year, do not think they will be too young, they will always find something to enjoy
