Delray Beach - Orlando / Florida Guide
Florida Guide > Other Florida
Located in the southern end of Palm Beach County, directly North of Boca Raton and directly south of Boynton beach FL. Slightly over 16 square miles of land which of which 90% has been developed. It is truly a unique city and boasts award winning beaches and vibrant downtown nightlife, along with not one but two golf courses, The Delray Beach golf club and Lakeview golf club.
Delray Beach Golf Club was named one of Americas 100 best value golf courses by golf magazine. It was designed by the legendry golf course architect Donald Ross, and is considered one of the finest public golf courses in the nation by the United States golf association.
Lakeview golf course is a par 60 executive course and approximately 55,000 rounds are played there every year with various youth programs and tournaments being held there also.
It is also home to the Delray Beach tennis center which has hosted several major international tennis events such as the April 2005 Fed cup, 2004 Davis cup, The Millennium ITC and the Chris Evert/Bank of America pro celebrity.
It is also home to a wide array of cultural and artistic venues including art galleries, museums, theatres, nature centers and gardens; they also host events throughout the year such as festivals, music concerts and so on.
But the crown jewel of Delray Beach just has to be the two mile stretch of stunningly beautiful award winning sandy coastline.
Delray Beach is a typical seaside resort town with bar’s and café’s and shops, it is a wonderful place to spend lunch time, although parking here as in most of these areas is by meter and any unmetered parking will be for a limited period only so keep plenty of quarters in your pocket.
Take an hour or so to sip your favourite wine and snack on the many choices offered to you, crabmeat fish etc…There is a variety of tempting eateries all looking inviting, we chose one to sit at and enjoyed a good couple of unrushed hours just eating and relaxing and never wanting to leave.
This is just another little jewel of south Florida.
We left Delray and meandered back along the coast to West Palm Beach, threading our way through and past residencies that are simply jaw dropping.
It is really worth a visit here and personally I cannot wait to return here again.
